Etched through with compassion, humour, and more than a touch of magic, Wood Buffalo is a sweeping Canadian epic that tells the story of the Wood Buffalo region of Northern Alberta, from colonization to the year 2070, through the intertwined narratives of a set of characters from across the country who are drawn to Canada’s oil sands to seek a better life. Wood Buffalo made its debut this fall in this world premiere production by Theatre New Brunswick.
Never before have a worked with an entirely new team, but for this production, that is exactly what happened (save playwright, Len Falkenstein). I loved working with this group of artists in Fredericton because it allowed me to stretch my muscles, try new things, and take risks. Len’s epic play was a huge challenge to get ready in time, but I think we created something quite profound and beautiful together.
Featuring Moneesha “Misha” Bakshi, Bridget Bezanson, Matthew Lumley, Kathleen MacLean, and Jake Martin.
