Description: This workshop teaches the basics of writing lyrics for musical theatre. It incorporates a brief history of musical theatre, focusing on the changing approaches to lyric-writing throughout the last century. By the end of the workshop, students will understand rhyme, scansion, and meter. And we will have created a brand new song all together!
Age Appropriateness: I find this workshop works best with participants who are 12 – 18.
Timeline: This workshop is best-suited to a single period, or a double period if you are interested in a more in-depth look at musical theatre history.
