MAGGIE & PIERRE (2017)

Director

Young Maggie Sinclair is a free spirited flowerchild. Pierre Trudeau is nearing 50, urbane, charismatic, and the future Prime Minister of Canada. When this unlikely pair finds one another, they fall in love, and dominate the international media for the next decade. This Canadian classic is a tour de force one-woman play about the pressures of power and fame under the media spotlight.

Directing Kaitlyn Riordan in this piece has been a dream for many years now—she was absolutely stunning in this role. We felt incredibly lucky to be able to produce it at the Thousand Islands Playhouse with a wonderful design team. Our production was lush, featuring both images and sound from 1970s Canada, and taking place in a Colonial-style office. Reflecting on this time in history, and making it alive for Canada’s 150th Anniversary, was deeply gratifying. I am very proud of my work on this piece, and very proud of the production that my collaborators and I crafted together.

The icing on the cake was having Paul Thompson, Andy McKim, and Linda Griffiths’ brother attend the production.
