HATCH, Harbourfront Centre
April 2014
#legacy was a performance experiment, a part of HATCH 2014 at Harbourfront Centre. Grandma meets the Twitterverse in this performance project, which examined what is left behind and why we look to leave a legacy. The work explored our representation of self through the eyes of three incredible women, all over 65, none of whom self-identify as artists. In many ways, this piece represented a confluence of my work as an artist-educator and as a writer/director. Throughout the process, I was continually surprised by the depth of insight these women brought to the table, and the articulation of their findings. Our explorations were thought-provoking and challenging and poignant, and our public presentation evoked similar feelings in our audiences.
