I have worked intensively with a number of schools on a number of collective creation projects, but this was my first large-scale and long-term residency to do this kind of work. The piece, created with over 30 high school students, featured live music, innovative non-narrative writing, great characters, and an important message about bullying and discrimination. I developed this piece with them during their first semester production class, but it later went on to win several awards at the Sears Ontario Drama Festival and resulted in the creation of a major conference around bullying in the York Region.
