DAISY AMAZED ME (2017)

Director & Co-Composer
Thousand Islands Playhouse
April 2017

From the writer of Rose’s Clothes and Violet’s the Pilot comes Daisy Amazed Me, the final story in Jason Hall’s trilogy of plays for young people.

Daisy is an unlikely hero. A wallflower by nature, she has happily grown in the shadow of her bold, out-going Mom. But one day Mom starts losing her colour; with each passing moment she gets more and more drab. Confronted with the possibility that they might be separated, Daisy embarks on a quest to halt her mother’s decline. The audience must help Daisy complete a series of tasks before the last hint of colour drains from her Mom.

This is the third and final work in Jason Hall’s trilogy of children’s plays, written for the Thousand Islands Playhouse Young Company. Having directed all three, Daisy was a bit of a departure because it was about a meek and mild girl, looking to find her voice. It was also written entirely in verse, with the intention that is could be musicalized with song, spoken word, and rap. That challenge was well-met by this incredible cast and I was very happy with the production we composed and created together.
